Hunt Weekly Announcements

Start of the 2024-25 School Year

Dear Parents & Students:

On behalf of the staff I would like to welcome you to Hunt Elementary for the upcoming school year.  We are looking forward to assisting you in fulfilling your educational goals.  JPS offers a world class education.  We are excited to continue our journey with you towards a balanced, year round schedule.

School will begin on Tuesday, August 6th. This will be a FULL DAY. We will start at 7:25 a.m. & dismiss at 2:28 pm.

If you plan on dropping your child off in the morning, please form 2 lines after the crosswalk. Our procedure allows for 6 cars to drop off at the same time at the gym doors. Please be patient, especially the first few weeks of school. Students cannot be dropped off at school before 7:05 a.m.  We do not have staff on duty to supervise safely during this time. We have a bus lane behind the school, no cars are allowed on that drive. No buses will be allowed in the parking lot. If you plan to provide after school transportation for your child, please note, our dismissal time is 2:28 pm. Please follow the same routine as the morning. Your child will be assigned a pick up number for safety reasons. Please do not share this number with anyone unless they are allowed to pick up your student.

There are several areas in the building that are used as cooling places with air conditioning in the event it gets too hot in the classroom. All classrooms are equipped with fans.

Accident & Sickness forms are very important for the safety of your children.  Please make sure your address and telephone number are kept current.  Forms will be given to your child at Open House or on the first day of school.  We would appreciate their return ASAP.  Make sure you have everyone listed on the form that can pick your child up from school.  If they are NOT listed, we will NOT release your child from school.

On the first day of school, we are asking that the Y5-2nd grade students report to the cafeteria and the 3rd-5th grade students report to the gym. Many staff members will have class lists to help the students get to their correct room.

Please do not call the office with last minute transportation changes. All transportation changes MUST be sent to school with a note. This includes riding home with someone else, getting picked up instead of riding the bus, or riding the bus instead of being a pick up.

Our Open House is Monday, August 5th from 5:30pm – 7:00pm. This will give you a chance to meet with your child’s teacher and visit their classroom. Our PTO and transportation department will be available throughout the night.

We look forward to educating your child/children and meeting you.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call or drop in.  We plan to have a very good year with your support. A copy of the new calendar will be available at the Open House and will also be sent home on the first day of school. Please hang this on your refrigerator as a reminder throughout the year. We are more than happy to provide an extra copy if needed.

In closing, I would like to say I am looking forward to a wonderful school year.  For the curious, I go by Mrs. Mary Jo Racz-Shannon.  The Racz is pronounced like (rasp) berry.

See you soon 🙂
